MWC formed in 2005 to avoid depletion, pollution and privatization of our critical source water community. When Nestle arrived in 2003 to build the world’s largest water-bottling factory in our picturesque, historic community located at the southern base of Mount Shasta, we knew that economic solutions were necessary to permanently protect our watershed. Ever since cancellation of Nestle’s contract in 2009, the MWC has been collaborating with diverse stakeholders on watershed management, representing public interest in local government, and building capacity for restoration to replace extraction as the economic basis for Mount Shasta’s retired timber towns.
