McCloud Watershed Council was formed as a grassroots response to an unprecedented plan by Nestlé Waters North America to appropriate and sell millions of gallons of water belonging to the small historic mill town of McCloud, California. Join our organization as we fight to protect our quality of life; historic integrity; natural resources and watershed; defend our right to the democratic process; and save our most precious resource of all, our water.
Please join us, volunteer your time and subscribe to our mailing list. Help to ensure that we are able to protect our waters and watersheds from irreversible negative impacts in the name of corporate thirst.
Please email us at info@mccloudwatershedcouncil.org with your name, your contact information, and any questions you may have.
Nestlé is the largest food and beverage company in the world with annual revenues of $70 billion. They have nearly unlimited resources. They did not attain this status by putting the interests of small communities first. As a 501(c)3 organization, your donation is tax deductible. Donations of all amounts are appreciated and can be sent to:

Jim Cook is McCloud's County Supervisor, call him and tell him how you feel. In a recent public meeting, Mr. Cook stated that he would help support the wishes of the community, if those wishes were clearly known to him. Let's make it clear. jimcook@snowcrest.net Supervisor's office: 530/842-8081
Get in touch with a community group that is working to stop Nestlé. The McCloud Watershed Council is a diverse group of community members from McCloud who are trying to find ways to stop Nestlé and provide stewardship for the McCloud River drainage. We also support economic alternatives to Nestlé that create living wage jobs for the people of McCloud. The MWC depends on local donations of time and money. We need your support. Send your contact information to the McCloud Watershed Council - PO Box 449, McCloud, CA 96057.
- Go to the McCloud Community Services District and request a CD of the CEQA scoping letters, copies of the transcripts of the board negotiation with Nestlé and a copy of the contract. Call them at 530/964-2017. This is public information. The contract alone is enough to make you a believer. Attend District board meetings and give public input.
- Read Inside The Bottle by Tony Clarke, published by The Polaris Institute: www.polarisinstitute.org. It's a fascinating book that, among other things, documents how water-bottling companies grab water rights from unsuspecting communities and the consequences those communities face once a water plant moves in. Available at the McCloud Book Gallery - 530/964-3273 or at The Polaris Institute's website.
The ruling requires the District to set aside the contract. Instead Nestlé and the District are moving full-steam ahead. To request a copy of the ruling, send a self-addressed stamped evelope and $1.00 to:
